Linen Closet Organizing

As I said before, I've had a few productive weekends. I took some time to organize our linen closet. Ahh yes, the linen closet. Home to the ironing board, the iron, extra toilet paper and everything else that I have no idea what to do with.

It started out looking like this:

...see all the stuff spewing out. It won't all fit on one shelf.

And now it looks like this:

I did get rid a few towels I no longer needed, but for the most part, everything that was in the closet before, ended up in there after (including a hamper at the bottom for dirty clothes).

Cash and Cari / Repurpose

This past weekend was a long weekend. It was great to have some time off- I got a lot of work done and was very productive. But all work and no play makes Courtney a dull girl. So, my Mom, Aunt and I took a short shopping trip over to Novi, Michigan. We were able to visit Repurpose, which is Cari Cucksey's store (from HGTV's Cash and Cari show). It was cool to see.

Our girl Cari was not there. Neither were the producers or the cameras, well, except for the security cameras, and that is NOT an appearance I will be making! HGTV, if you are reading, don't worry, I will be back and then you can ask me to host a TV show. Thanks! Hehehe.

Quatrefoil Sewing Caddy

Last summer I went to an estate sale where I found a cool, old sewing caddy. It started out looking like this...

After bargaining for the price, I cleaned it up and painted it heirloom white. I liked it and thought it looked cute, but it still needed something.

I remembered seeing a printable stencil over at Tatertots and Jello, and I knew what I needed to do.

I stenciled the sides of the sewing caddy to match my craft room!

I still need to do a second coat and erase my stencil tracing lines, but I like the way it's going! Do you think I should stencil it all over or just leave it on the ends? I am conflicted. Thanks again to Jen at Tatertots and Jello for her (awesome) quatrefoil obsession.

I will be linking to these parties this week.

Mini Valentine's Wreath

I made a cute little Valentine's Day wreath for my mantel this year. The best part is that it only cost about $1 to make.

I started with a tiny grapevine wreath from Michael's.

I lightly spray painted it white.

I found a scrap of burlap and painted "XOXO" on it.

Then I found a piece of red burlap and wound it around to make a burlap rose. I glued both pieces to my wreath.

And it turns into a cute, adorable mini wreath.

Cupid likes!

Antique Letterpress Initials

I know this isn't a DIY, but I had to share! I went to an antique store recently and it's one that I've never been to before. It had all kinds of treasures. I also took it as a time to practice my bargaining skills, and guess what? It worked. Check out the treasures I found.

I got "XOXO" for Valentine's Day...

... and I got a "B" and a "C" for my husband's and my initials.

I think they are kind of cool. What do you think? Would you use antique letterpress initials to decorate?

LOVE Sign

Quick! Rush over to Target and hit up the dollar bins! You're looking for the white frames that look like this:

Trace the insert onto some cute scrapbook paper and cut it out.

Fit the paper into the frame.

Cut out some letters that spell LOVE and glue them down.

Assemble it back together in the frame with the glass. Now, it is just missing a little something... yup, right there in the middle! It's blank!

Use a glass tile and cut a piece of old book paper to fit. Also add a heart cutout. Place it in the center of the frame (it fits perfectly), and there you have it!

I think I will link to these parties this week.

Snowpocalypse 2011

It's a snow day here at the four-four-oh! And let me just say, cars are not the only thing to get stuck in the snow today!

Would you like to sit and stay awhile over a cup of tea?

Perhaps we could grill up some snow-kabobs?

How about a poor little doggie getting stuck in the snow?

Is it snowing where you are?
