Spring Birdies Part 3

If you missed Part 1 and Part 2 of my birdie series, please *fly* over and check them out. The last birdie that I found at the Dollar Store was this little guy.

I started out by spray painting him Heirloom White. And then dry-brushing him with a fun blue color.

I also bought this cute candle holder at the Dollar Store too and painted it Heirloom White as well.

I flipped the Dollar Store candle holder upside down and I hot glued a small, round piece of wood that was also painted Heirloom White to the bottom.

I forgot to mention above, but I also Ralphied the bird because I did not like how the blue dry-brushed onto the bird.

I placed him on the candle holder and was going to glue him down, but decided I might want to use it for other things in the future, so for now, he just perches on it with his little friend.

  1. How sweet he looks. The candle holder looks so much prettier in white. Really shows off the detail. So clever!

Be sure to stop by and see what Allison found while antique shopping :D

  3. Those are indeed sweet little birds. I'm never sure what you're going to use to pull together your vignettes, but it always works perfectly! Well done, and I hope you link those up to the Bragfest on Wednesday. I love them!

  5. Super cute. I did a similar thing with that same candle holder. The candle that I bought didn't fit, so I just flipped it upside down. Who says Dollar Tree items aren't versatile? :P

Thanks for linking up to my Mad Skills party!

  6. Very, very cute idea! I've seen that little birdie from the DT silver leafed, as well. Funny, I suppose the DT folks thought he was good enough in his natural state to decorate a home, but he keeps turning up in blogland as a transformation!
You are very creative to do the bird and a stand. I agree with you about not gluing, such a cute stand(now that it is painted)and looks like it could be very multi-functional.
Thanks so much for posting and sharing.
    Have a wonderful week. :)
