Mini Valentine's Wreath

I made a cute little Valentine's Day wreath for my mantel this year. The best part is that it only cost about $1 to make.

I started with a tiny grapevine wreath from Michael's.

I lightly spray painted it white.

I found a scrap of burlap and painted "XOXO" on it.

Then I found a piece of red burlap and wound it around to make a burlap rose. I glued both pieces to my wreath.

And it turns into a cute, adorable mini wreath.

Cupid likes!

LOVE Sign

Quick! Rush over to Target and hit up the dollar bins! You're looking for the white frames that look like this:

Trace the insert onto some cute scrapbook paper and cut it out.

Fit the paper into the frame.

Cut out some letters that spell LOVE and glue them down.

Assemble it back together in the frame with the glass. Now, it is just missing a little something... yup, right there in the middle! It's blank!

Use a glass tile and cut a piece of old book paper to fit. Also add a heart cutout. Place it in the center of the frame (it fits perfectly), and there you have it!

I think I will link to these parties this week.

Be Mine Burlap Sign

Cupid is on the lookout for love and Valentine's decor! Here is my latest and greatest. A burlap sign that says "be mine". It's simple and sweet and is adorned with a heart that is cut out of a page of Gone With the Wind. The heart has the words "devoted heart" and "her beloved" - Cupid would be proud!

Like the Conversation Heart Picture? Go here to see how I made it. You could do this one with your kids!

I just *love* these parties and will link to them this week.

My Heart Has a Key

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, it's time to start decorating!

I started with a round plaque, some paint, scrapbook paper and an old antique key.

I painted the edges of the plaque.

Cut the scrapbook paper to fit the front and mod podge it on.

When the mod podge dries, sand the edges of the scrapbook paper.

Cut out the letters, mod podge them on and add a cuphook.

Finish it with the key hanging from a cute ribbon.

I used a little easel to prop mine up on the mantel.

Hold onto your key or give it to your true love. How romantic!

Heart Pillow

Hey y'all! I know it has been awhile, but I am still around! It has been a few busy, difficult weeks since my Grandmother's passing, but I also find that it's times like these where I find inspiration in areas least expected. I also want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your kind and encouraging words. I feel truly blessed to have such wonderful, caring readers, and your kindness will never be forgotten. Your comments got me through these last few weeks, and for that, I am forever grateful! Thank you!

While we are on the topic of inspiration, I wanted to share with you a craft that I truly put my *heart* into. My Mom and Aunt wanted a little pillow with which to send their mother (my grandmother) off to Heaven. They looked and looked at each of the craft stores/bridal areas, but saw nothing. That's when I knew that I had to channel my recent sewing skills and get busy.

My Aunt found me a print out of the shape of the heart. She also had boxes of vintage fabric and lace, some belonging to my Grandma and her sister and used for some of their dresses when they were my age.

I know this sounds cheesy, but I didn't really have a plan, I just let my creative spirit guide me, and kept in my head when I thought my Grandma would like. I was pleased with the end results, and I know my Grandma was too. She would have loved this!

Here are my supplies:

I cut out the heart (2 pieces- a front and a back) and then sewed the lace onto the front side of one piece of the heart. Then I pinned the front and back of the heart together (good sides facing each other) and sewed around it leaving a spot to turn it right-side out.

After flipping it right side out:

I stuffed it with batting and then had to hand sew the rest of it shut. This would be a great time to stuff in a little note or a trinket.

I then hot glued some silk flowers in the corner.

Here is the finished product:

I thought this pillow would work well as a decoration, or even as a tooth-fairy pillow if you modified it to include a little pocket.

Valentine's Day (late!)

Happy Valentine's Day (a day late)!! I did not post yesterday because my husband and I went on a secret getaway to a Bed and Breakfast called The Shack.

We started out the day with heart-shaped cinnamon rolls.

We decided this year that we would exchange homemade valentines instead of buying things. I think they turned out extra special and sweet. Brian took pictures of our little doggie, Tulah in the shape of the word "LOVE." I must have laughed for about 5 minutes and then cried at the sweet sentiment. It was a perfect gift for me. I absolutely LOVE it beyond words.

We are still waiting for the frames to come, but I think it will look great on the picture ledge above our bed.

I made my hubby an altered deck of cards: 52 Reasons Why I Love You. I have seen these online before, so I decided to give it a go and make up my reasons (mostly inside jokes and such) on a deck of cards I got at the Dollar Store.

So, Happy Valentine's Day from us to you! XO

L O V E Blocks X O X O

Love is in the air, so I decided to make some love blocks. It was a simple, quick craft. You will need 4 wood blocks (mine are cut to a 4x4 size), and some craft paints.

I sanded my blocks to make them smooth.

Then painted them white and pink.

Then stenciled the letters on in the opposite color of the block.

Wait, there's nothing "evil" about these cute blocks...

On the other side, I decided to put "X O X O" so that I can switch them around if I want to.

Lookin' cute on my mantel. I love these blocks!
