The Crappy Crafter

Last week I got home from work and the FUNNIEST thing was in my mailbox! Imagine my surprise when I got actual snail mail from "Red Heads Craft More Fun Fan Club." WHAT?!?? I have a fan club????

Here is the back of the envelope. "Sealed with Craft Glue" - how hilarious!

And inside... a belated birthday card! "A clever idea from the Crappy Crafter- Recycle your birthday gift bows to make a cute top! Or use double-stick tape for an evening strapless look!"

Are you laughing yet? And the inside said, "1. Apply bows 2. Go out 3. Watch the well-wishers appear. Get lots of attention on your birthday!"

I LOVED it! I'm laughing all over again! It's from my Mom, Aunt Sue and cousin/best friend Andi, who all are incredible and ROCK!! Thanks ladies!

Valentine's Day (late!)

Happy Valentine's Day (a day late)!! I did not post yesterday because my husband and I went on a secret getaway to a Bed and Breakfast called The Shack.

We started out the day with heart-shaped cinnamon rolls.

We decided this year that we would exchange homemade valentines instead of buying things. I think they turned out extra special and sweet. Brian took pictures of our little doggie, Tulah in the shape of the word "LOVE." I must have laughed for about 5 minutes and then cried at the sweet sentiment. It was a perfect gift for me. I absolutely LOVE it beyond words.

We are still waiting for the frames to come, but I think it will look great on the picture ledge above our bed.

I made my hubby an altered deck of cards: 52 Reasons Why I Love You. I have seen these online before, so I decided to give it a go and make up my reasons (mostly inside jokes and such) on a deck of cards I got at the Dollar Store.

So, Happy Valentine's Day from us to you! XO

Merry Christmas (card)

Christmas cards can be expensive! How come I never noticed this? Could it be because this year I waited until the week of Christmas to send them out, when I was spending tons of money on last-minute presents and grocery store trips?? Yikes! Not to sounds like a huge Bah Humbug Scrooge, I went down to the Cricut Studio (aka my basement) and made my own cards. Ten gluey fingertips and 900 hours later (exaggeration), I was ready to send them off into the unknown mists of the USPS.

So, from my family to yours, Merry Christmas and let us not forget the true reason for this day. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.."

Vintage Christmas Postcard

My Aunt is an amazing crafter. I have many fond memories of watching her and my mom make things together, and once I was old enough, they always let me join in too. Yes, there were many hours of friendly plastic jewelry making, dollhouse painting, and rubber stamping. Ahh the memories!

So, I was not surprised when our Christmas card arrived on Friday from her. It is BEAUTIFUL! She took a vintage post card (mine is dated from 1912), embellished it with vintage buttons, ribbon and other trinkets, then glittered it all over. The tag on the front says, "Wishing you an old fashioned Merry Christmas". Perfect.
