Sparrow Canvas

I have seen lots of lovely canvas art projects in craft-bloglandville. I have always wanted to try one, so I went to Mike's with a coupon and bought me a canvas.

I painted it gray with acrylic paint.

Then I used my Cricut to cut out letters. I used the "Doodle Type" font cartridge. I arranged the words and lightly glued them down so that they wouldn't move when I mod podged it. (If you don't have a Cricut, you can print your saying on a computer and cut it out.)

I then put a light layer of Mod Podge all over the canvas.

When it was dry, I ended up with an adorable canvas!

*The saying is from a Gospel hymn, which, depending on how you interpret it, totally fits with what we talked about at church today (I love it when things like that happen). Not only does God have His eye on the lesser things like the sparrow, but maybe we should also watch out for the people who are often times overlooked.

Have a great day! PS: I will be linking up to these parties.

Floating Frame Spring Plaque

Did you see the Dollar Tree floating frame address plaque I made? Well, here is something similar.

This was a simple, fun project I did to give as a gift to my Sister-in-Law for Mother's Day. It would be so simple to make for any season or any reason (hey- that rhymes!).

I used a floating frame from the Dollar Tree and painted it black (it would also be adorable white). Then I used my cricut and some adhesive paper to cut out the word "Spring" and a little birdie. (Am I obsessed with birdies or what?)

If you don't have a Cricut, you could use cute stickers. So easy!

Floating Frame Address Plaque

Have you seen the awesome floating frames at the Dollar Tree?? They look like this:

Did you know the word "Love" is stuck to one of the pieces of glass, but if you run it under hot water, it comes right off- no scrubbing necessary?!?

So, I decided to paint the frame black.

Then I used my cricut to cut out some address numbers. I used some adhesive paper so that it acted like stickers. I also used the cricut mat to help me place the numbers onto one of the pieces of glass.

Put it back in the frame and you have a nice housewarming gift, or a Mother's Day gift, etc.

Merry Christmas (card)

Christmas cards can be expensive! How come I never noticed this? Could it be because this year I waited until the week of Christmas to send them out, when I was spending tons of money on last-minute presents and grocery store trips?? Yikes! Not to sounds like a huge Bah Humbug Scrooge, I went down to the Cricut Studio (aka my basement) and made my own cards. Ten gluey fingertips and 900 hours later (exaggeration), I was ready to send them off into the unknown mists of the USPS.

So, from my family to yours, Merry Christmas and let us not forget the true reason for this day. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.."

Chirp, Chirp, Chirptastic!

Do you hear chirping?? I can barely contain myself! It arrived (on Wednesday to be exact, I was just too busy playing with it to post), and just in time to make my Christmas cards!

What I've been doing

I have not forgotten about crafting! In fact, I am still highly addicted. I wanted to put a little post up about what I have been doing this past week, since I really have not had the time to post anything, and I've noticed more people are reading this blog (THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!).

First off, I am proud to say that I Black Friday-ed like the best of 'em! My fellow Red Headed Mother and I even decided to work off the tryptophan coma and actually scope out our deal. We were looking for this. Yup, ladies and gentlemen, you are now reading the blog of a proud new Cricut owner!! Mine is black, not red. AND even better was the fact that I was able to buy it online instead of standing in line at Walmart at 5am. With my luck, I would have made it onto that email that is circulating about the People of Walmart- it would not have been a pretty sight. But instead, I was able to hop onto the old www and call it a day.

But, I digress. I just get so excited about the Cricut that I can't focus. (And I'm doing it again).

I have also been working on a few things at the same time. I prefer to call it multi-crafting. Here is a sneak peak at one:

I am not sure when that will be completed... I feel as if it is an ongoing craft. A Perma-Craft if you will.

The other joy I am working on involved an altercation with a drill! Never fear loyal readers, both the drill and I survived!

It is my firm belief that Red Heads (and ALL hair colors for that matter) are capable of working a drill. I, on the other hand, might not be capable of working the self-timer on my camera. Thus the no headed drill shot.

Alas, please continue to check back, I promise to post again soon about the dramatic conclusion of the Red Head vs The Drill!
