Be Mine, Conversation Heart Picture

When I saw Living With Lindsay's post about this, it inspired me to spread the sugary love. I didn't use buttons, oh no, in honor of Valentine's Day, I used conversation hearts.

I went to the Dollar Store and bought a few bags of "be mine, I'm yours, marry me, and text me". I also picked up a picture frame.

I used a piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper as the background, so I traced and then cut out the insert from the picture frame.

I used my Cricut to cut out the shape of the heart that I would then use to trace onto the scrapbook paper. You could freehand this or use tracing paper as well (I just look for any excuse to use my Cricut. :o)

Get that glue gun ready and start to glue...

...and glue, Sweet Pea...

...and glue, Puppy Love!

I followed one heart that said "dream big," and put a second layer of convo hearts on top.

I used clear nair polish to shine up the little love messages! And then put it in the frame. FYI: I put mine in without the glass in front because it wouldn't fit!

Here it is before I put the red bow on it. I can't decide which way I like it better.

And here it is after, with a cute little red bow.

This would make a wonderful craft to do with children. It is easy, simple and fun! For this little project and me, it is "True Love"!
I love a great party at:

  5. This gives me a great idea for getting blank candy hearts (or covering up the printed messages) and replacing them with words of a story or poem for the ultimate candy heart valentine! (Maybe on a smaller scale though!)

  18. Super cute, I'm totally doing this! I like the addition of the bow (everything is better with ribbon, right?), but I'm not sure I like the red, but that's just my opinion.
Love the idea, especially doing two layers!

  20. That is SO great -- how very adorable. A darling piece of valentine artwork that didn't cost most than a bag of candy! ...and aren't those sayings a blast? Thank you for sharing this idea and linking to the Boardwalk Bragfest. I love it!

  26. Thanks everyone for the thoughts on the ribbon. If I hadn't been so *lazy* I would have tried other colors too! Wanna know a secret? I didn't glue it on yet! I guess I can be very crafty-noncommittal! :o)

  31. How cute! I could never get thru that without eating all of them though. Valentines has a special place in my heart because of conversation hearts...the original kind, not the funky flavored ones. YUM....I might have to stop at the store on the way to pick up the kids and grab a bag!

  32. Redhead....
    clever and yummy!
Sorry I am so late. As it ended up, we did have a (6 hour) 2AM-8Am stint in the ER with my son. Praise God, all is ok. But,it's taken me some time to recover from being up all night. Alas, I am late in getting around to everyone this week. My apologies.
Sincere thanks for linking up to Tales from Bloggeritville Thrifty Thursday!

  34. One girl had candy with a candle and I thought this (hot glue gunned) is another way to keep from eating any candy.

  38. Great tutorial. If I had that anywhere near my preschoolers, they'd try to eat it :)!

  39. The kids I work with would love making it. I'd only worry about how many of the candies would actually make it onto the page and not into their mouths. I think low-temp glue would be the order of the day. The ribbon and the nail polish glaze were great finishing touches.
